Colleague Bernadett reports on her experiences
Last year, VWGIS adopted the company agreement "Hybrid Work". It stipulates that employees can choose between different hybrid work models.
In this article, you can read about our HR employee Bernadett's experience with the hybrid work model at VWGIS and what her personal assessment is with regard to everyday work.
Dear Bernadett, can you tell us what benefits you as an employee derive from the Hybrid Work model at VWGIS?
"I can organize my working day much more flexibly. For example, if I have a private appointment in the morning or spontaneously have to pick up one of my children from daycare earlier, that's no problem. At home, I also have the option of spending my break in my garden, working outside sometimes in the summer, or simply switching the team meeting to a walk via my cell phone. That's a huge benefit for me personally. Professionally, I also see a significant advantage in the fact that we experience more personal responsibility. Self-directed work and learning is in line with the modern zeitgeist."
Are there any drawbacks to this model for you as an employee, or any challenges you face?
"Getting up directly from my desk in the home office and switching to my private daily routine is sometimes not so easy. For example, if the kids are already at home, it's a virtually seamless transition into the job as a mom. That can be a challenge from time to time.
I also notice that I used to move around a lot more every day in the office. The stairwell at BZN was almost like a cardio workout."
What constitutes a good work-life balance for you? Has your work-life balance changed as a result of the hybrid work option, and if so, how?
"Above all, it is important for me to have regular opportunities to recharge my batteries. I do this best when I'm in silence or can spend time outside in nature. I can integrate such moments into my workday much better in the hybrid work model."
What are your tips for maintaining contact with colleagues while working on the move?
"For me, it works great to set up regular exchange appointments with colleagues. In the past, people met by chance in the kitchenette or in the hallway, but this is no longer the case in mobile work. But you can also simply arrange to meet for coffee in the morning via teams, for example to evaluate the weekend or to discuss upcoming tasks, and to get some good advice and support along the way.
That, combined with regular reunions on site "for real and in color," works out pretty well for me.
How do you envision the workplace of the future?
"In the future, I envision a nice mix of home office and on-site collaborations. It's important to me that we have the opportunity to work together on our projects as a team in the office. Of course, this requires the right collaboration space that also offers room for creativity. I then like to continue to have my desk at home for focused individual work."
Thank you dear Bernadett for your time and sharing your experiences on the hybrid work model of VWGIS!
