VWGIS establishes hybrid work model across Germany
With the new Corona Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance passed by the German government in March and the amendment of the Infection Protection Act, many companies are returning to their usual pre-pandemic working practices. For employees, this often includes a daily duty of presence at the employer's site again.
This is not the case at Volkswagen Group IT Solutions GmbH: over the last two years, it has become apparent that employees have been performing their work duties outside the VWGIS premises without any problems. For this reason, the management and the works council have agreed to allow employees to continue mobile work as well as hybrid work models in the future.
The decision to establish a hybrid work model at VWGIS will, on the one hand, increase employees' job satisfaction by allowing them to take on more personal responsibility and to organise their jobs and individual lifestyles more flexibly. On the other hand, the competitiveness of VWGIS is secured and a modern corporate culture is promoted.
Antje Herrmann, Head of HR, Legal, Compliance & Communications is pleased about this important step: "The agreement between the management and the works council lays the first foundation stone for a permanent flexible working model at VWGIS. In the coming months, further measures will follow with which we will implement hybrid working."
Currently, work is already underway on converting the space to create meeting areas for employees, where teams can meet to work in the future. In addition to the possibility of fixed workplaces, in future there will be the option of booking places in the VWGIS office buildings via a special software used in the company. Another added value for recruiting is the free choice of workplace for potential employees, who can work from anywhere in Germany. In addition to the individual CO2 savings in terms of commuting to the office, this allows more diverse teams to come together.
The Hybrid Work model focuses in particular on training series for managers in order to be able to support them in the long term in continuing to successfully accompany their teams in the direction of a digital working world.
