The management of VWGIS informs about the relevance of environmental protection as a member of society
Earth Day was on 22.4 and many colleagues participated in #Project1Hour at VWGIS with their ideas and actions for climate protection.
The following best practice examples show the creative ideas that came out of this:
The team "PKI" took on an Escape Game of World Hunger Aid. The interactive game enabled a different approach to the topic of environmental protection and let the staff solve tricky riddles about climate change. With teamwork, the group acquired helpful information on the topics of microplastics, recycling solutions and nutrition and thus created the basis for an extensive concluding discussion round. "By working out the solutions independently, the different impressions were much more memorable - I really liked the slightly different format," summarises Christian as part of the team.
"Doing better than just talking about it" was the motto of the team around Tobias from the FIS Backoffice. They were out and about at the Zwickau site, making sure the streets and parks were clean. In the end, they collected two large, fully packed sacks containing about 20 kg of rubbish. Tobias' conclusion: "For us, the hour was definitely worth it to sharpen our focus: For us, our environment and the things that are left behind by our society."
Another example is provided by the HR, Legal, Compliance & Marketing team. They used the time to talk about nutrition in the workshop mode "Focus". The lesson started with a short quiz on food waste and greenhouse gases and emissions from food production. It continued with the task "Broadening horizons", in which an upside-down world was assumed and everyone had to make their own carbon footprint go up as quickly as possible. In the next step, these terrible ideas were reversed by the team members so that their own diet could be improved. Finally, concrete goals were formulated to help establish a climate-friendly diet in everyday life. Other teams also had the opportunity to discuss mobility, consumer behaviour or their own topics in focus mode.
"These examples show how important environmental protection is to our VWGIS colleagues. We, as the management of VWGIS, also support such efforts very much and have ourselves ensured that VWGIS saves a large amount of CO2 with the possibility of hybrid work - thus, thanks to hybrid work, 6,000 kg of CO2 are saved per day and per employee.
In this way, VWGIS itself lives environmental protection and sets a good example for our employees.
We as the management of VWGIS are proud of our colleagues, because it is precisely with initiatives like this that we are paying towards a better environment - keep up the good work."
