Philipp and Lydia from the User Experience Competence Center talk about the development of user-oriented products at KOMED in Cologne.
6 weeks of planning and organisation, 2 speakers and a 45-minute lecture slot including a break-out session at Mediapark Cologne with around 200 conference participants. Challenge accepted.
In this short time we managed with our event team to organise the sponsoring and our exhibition stand including merchandise articles and a new exhibition outfit for the first presence event of the VWGIS after two years. For this we worked hand in hand with our colleagues Lydia and Philipp from the User Experience Competence Center in Hannover and coordinated several service providers at the same time.
The kick-off for the c't editorial team's frontend developer conference finally took place again in presence from 07 to 09 November 2022 at the KOMED in Cologne.
As one of the three sponsors, the conference offered us a very good opportunity to meet the frontend community on site, to exchange ideas with them and, above all, to gain insights into software technology, best practices and technology trends again with many great talks.
On both conference days, there was an agenda full of knowledge on the main stage and in two other lecture rooms. The speakers gave exciting insights into web and mobile development, UX and accessibility as well as JavaScript and frameworks. The event was rounded off with a get-together on the first evening, where further recruiting talks and networking with the conference participants took place. Two potential candidates have already announced their intention to apply for a job with us.
On the second day of the event, the time had come. Our sponsored slot on the lecture topic:
"Mind the [inhouse] Gap: How UX and Dev work together to develop user-centric products".
was on the agenda. In order to build user-centric software products, we need different roles and skills in VWGIS. Philipp and Lydia's talk was about how we harmonise the different roles, skills and communication structures in order to get ready-to-use products on the road quickly as a team. The full conference room and the subsequent break-out session showed how current and essential the topic is in the IT community.
The conclusion of our event team was unanimous:
WE BUILD IT, WE RUN IT, WE LOVE IT!
In the end, this message was positively remembered by all conference participants and strengthened our live presence!
At this point we would like to say THANK YOU to the event team (Phillipp, Christian, Monika, Yannick and Lydia) and are looking forward to the next events with VWGIS!
