VWGIS colleagues take part in historical guided tour
At the Hanover location, the VWGIS teams not only appreciate the great teamwork, the modern meeting rooms and the sunny forecourt at the site. The architecture and the historical building are also a positive factor.
Therefore, a good 22 colleagues from the office and even home office lovers made their way to the Tintenturm to take part in the historical guided tour "Around the Pelikan Tintenturm". In the 90 minutes that followed, tour guide Tino took the VWGIS team on a fascinating journey of the Pelikan company and the tradition-rich site.
The historical highlights ranged from the foundation of the first ink factory in 1838 under the chemist Carl Hornemann to the year 1878 when the Pelikan from the family coat of arms was registered as one of the first trademarks in Germany by the company manager Günter Wagner. To this day, the Pelikan company sponsors the birds as its trademark at Hannover Zoo and is committed to the welfare of the animals.
The tour helped to exchange personal experiences with other colleagues and to network with other teams and departments. Memories from their own school days were rekindled and there was much laughter about who wrote with which fountain pen and collected the balls from the ink cartridges. The tour was rounded off with a joint dinner at an Italian restaurant.
P.S. Whoever is on the road again soon at the Hanover location should take a closer look on the next visit and find the pelicans on manhole covers and house facades! 😉
