VWGIS CEO Dr Stephan Fingerling accompanies Hauke Stars and Cornelius Menig on a trip to India
"Where ancient tradition meets technological innovation". This is the motto under which the collaboration between Volkswagen AG and Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions (VWITS) is being deepened.
As part of the Volkswagen Group's NEWAUTO strategy, our CEO Dr Stephan Fingerling accompanied Hauke Stars (Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG) and Cornelius Menig (Head of Applications and Infrastructure at Volkswagen AG) on their visit to VWITS in India in mid-October.
With the exchange on site, Hauke Stars is pursuing two important goals to help support the Volkswagen Group's NEW AUTO strategy and transform the company from a traditional car manufacturer to a software- and data-driven provider of sustainable mobility.
First, with its highly creative and innovative workforce, India has a local tech talent pool that provides the Volkswagen Group with the right skills, competencies and mindset for NEWIT, so that the NEWAUTO strategy can be taken forward. For this reason, the VWITS team will be scaled and the local IT workforce will be doubled by the end of 2024.
On the other hand, there is the opportunity to further expand the internal capabilities and competences of Volkswagen AG. This will enable VWITS to take end-to-end responsibility for key strategic projects. This is important to develop in-house expertise for key Volkswagen AG applications that serve critical business processes.
"I am very happy that based on the good results of the last years, the cooperation of VWITS with Volkswagen Group IT is now developing to a new level. The growth in India will help us meet the challenges ahead."
The German guests thus had an in-depth exchange with the VWITS product/project delivery teams, who gave them an up-to-date overview of the IT competence and know-how.
Other items on the agenda included, for example, the launch of the Instagram account @vwits.in or the inauguration of the VWITS initiative ENVOLVE, which aims to bring talented women into leadership roles and increase gender diversity at management level.
